Leather and Lace Theatre was founded in 2020 by Vancouver actors Sarah Harlow and Victoria Waterhouse with the aim of producing entertaining and thought-provoking plays with good female storylines, especially those featuring mature women.

Teaming up with directors Maryth Gilroy and Karen Hamm the company first endeavoured to produce Calendar Girls, Tim Firth's famous comedy based on the true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

Once it became evident in early 2020 that performances for live audiences were not going to be feasible in the near future, the company decided to postpone Calendar Girls (now in pre-production to be presented in Deep Cove in January 2023) and presented What Do We Need To Talk About? and And So We Come Forth, the first two installments of New York playwright Richard Nelson's Covid era plays (written especially to be performed on ZOOM) depicting life for his Apple Family characters during Covid-19.

The next endeavour for Leather and Lace was the live production and North American Premiere of the funny and poignant The Tyler Sisters by Alexandra Wood which was presented at The Shop Theatre in Marpole in April 2022.

We thank you for your support and look forward to having you in our audience for Calendar Girls in January 2023.
